Unsurprisingly, the corona pandemic is also having a major impact on payment systems. Of course, especially on the POS transactions, one can clearly see what impact the lockdowns had on debit card transactions.
It is nice to see that the Dutch banks have succeeded in making instant payments the new standard in the ‘traditional’ payment system. In many other European countries, instant payments are marketed by banks too much as a premium product with a ditto premium price. So, it looks like we still don’t have a real European payment market.
